The Best First Half of Rugby Ever!

Play it anyway you like, last nights first half of rugby was sensational!
Oh what a night! Oh what a game!

Rugby fever had struck Three French Vines by lunchtime Saturday. The talk was would the Aussies take the first game of three. Never, was the cry! Not on your life! “But”, it’s a small word that lives at the bottom of your stomach, they might just put up a fight, could it happen? Could the Wallabies align the stars? Never! came the cry around the lunch table at Three French Vines over a bowl of hot steaming soup.

The afternoon rolled on, the talk got heated at the share thought of those Aussies winning drove us to more talk and more what if’s. It was too much, the rugby ball was passed with increasing speed. Rugby moves were discussed and played and many manoeuvres played out. May the vase that stood on the kitchen bench rest in peace.

The boys and immediate neighbors arrived by 7pm empty handed but with the correct password at the door, “Real Men Drink Champagne”! No password, no entry, we are tough here at Three French Vines.
The rugby ball morphed into bowls of chips, the river of Champagne flowed and the sound of popping corks got serious.

Kick off started with a roar and we held the faith. Reward came swift and never in history have we before been rewarded with such good rugby. It was pure magic, a place that only the oval ball can take you with a bottle of Three French Vines Champagne.

As they say, the rest is history and this morning I find myself at the computer emailing France for further supplies!

As if we really needed an excuse to drink more champagne!

Check this article out pointing out the health benefits of drinking more champagne.  Apparently all it takes is 3 glasses per day to prevent the onset of dementia.  They are doing more research and  I’m totally committed to  volunteering for this study!

Corks Away!

Looks like someone has had a whole lot of fun here!  Something about corks, the colour, the smooth texture and the fragrance of the champagne.  I know people always become animated when they hear that certain “pop” that only a champagne bottle can make.  I think it makes people happy and excited.  If we were strict purists we wouldn’t really want that “pop” but I think sometimes it sets the mood and besides it’s fun.  Nothing beats firing a cork from a bottle off the balcony grand prix style!

Champagne Monmarthe Coup de Coeur wins Gold

Earlier this year this Premier Cru NV champagne won Gold at the Sakura Woman’s Wine Awards in Japan.  Congratulations Monmarthe!

This is certainly well deserved as this is a superbly sophisticated champagne oozing with style.  Ok, if you haven’t guessed it, I confess to this being one of my favorites.  It’s dry and delicious!

Congratulations Rohan & Matt

Congratulations to Rohan and Matt who were recently married.  On their special day they served Champagne Secret de Famille and this is what they have to say about Three French Vines.

We’re really glad to have enjoyed some Grower Champagne at our wedding earlier this year – we had a great experience dealing with Marie and Three French Vines and the Champagne Monmarthe went down deliciously!  Marie was helpful and friendly and it was obvious she shares our love of bubbles!  We knew we would enjoy each style in their range, but Marie made it easy to narrow down our selection, giving pointers on the grape blends and taste profiles as well as some interesting points on the growers and locations of each house.  When we mentioned a particular champagne we had loved she looked into it and suggested one with a similar blend – which was the one we settled on for our big day!  Delivery was quick and hassle free also. We’re pleased to have a few bottles left over…although we wouldn’t hesitate to try more from Three French Vines!”

Champagne Marion-Bosser

We are thrilled to introduce Champagne Marion-Bosser to you.  This Mother and Daughter champagne house produce award winning champagnes. Situated in Hautvillers which is renown for growing Premier Cru and also with the father of champagne, Dom Perignon, who resided at the Hautvillers Abbey.
Kathy and Trevor, champagne connisseurs from Mt Eden, recommended that we stock Marion-Bosser and they were so right. Thanks to Kathy and Trevor we are able to bring you this champagne. It’s a standout recommendation!
I am not exaggerating when I say these champagnes are exceptional and  really worthwhile trying.  The  Extra Brut Blanc de Blanc is top-notch luxury! In 2015 this won the Chairman’s Trophy of “The Ultimate Wine Challenge” in New York and British Airways serve it in First Class.
The gorgeous Brut Tradition is my favorite.  Tradition is the perfect name for the classic marriage of the Chardonnay and Pinot Noir.  It’s full, harmonious and  just delicious.
Obviously one bottle is not going to cut it with these two.  Whether it’s Brut or Extra Brut I guarantee that you will be wowed with these two beauties!

Bond.  James Bond.  Being a big fan of James Bond I saw this pic on Instagram recently and loved it.  What I love most about the early JB movies are the really spoofy lines.   Although the spoofy has been toned down, the main ingredients are still there, handsome James Bond, beautiful women and of course champagne!
